It's been a little over two years since I started surfing again, and it's been a year since I became a member of the national team. I'm preparing for the Asian Games next year

It's my first time to participate in an ISA competition

Hi! This is Su from Korea. Luckily I am the first player in Korea to receive support from the Siheung City Sports Association. Thanks to the strong support, when there are no waves, we train at Siheung Wave Park, and when there are waves, we go to the sea to train. And get professional training. Then, technologies that I thought were impossible began to become available. I was so happy and hopeful. I no longer judge my end. We still have many shortcomings, but we love surfing, want to learn, and keep challenging. I am very much looking forward to this moment and the future. excited! I sincerely hope that there will be more surfing teams in more local governments in the future so that more athletes can learn and grow together with support. And Big thanks to my Team, Family, Korean surfing scene friends who worked and still working hard. I will do my best in my place. Thank you for making such a wonderful Games!

안녕하세요.  My name is Kanoa Hee-Jae (pronounced He-jay).  I'm 17 years old. I was born in Kang-nung, South Korea. 




From March 2018 to March 2020, my family moved in Siargao Island, Philippines. Living there played a very important part in my surfing. I still go back once a year to surf, train, and see friends.




My family and I moved back to Kang-nung but for the last 4 years, we have been living in YangYang. YangYang is on the east coast of South Korea and is known as the "Surfing Capital" of Korea. It is 2.5 hours east of Seoul and about 3.5 hours east of the Wave Park wave pool. 




Thank you so much to my teacher, Brad Gerlach, for teaching me how to become a better surfer through daily Wave Ki practice. 




Thanks especially to my Mom and grandparents who have helped me a lot with expenses, so I can travel, train, and compete internationally.   Thanks to my Dad, sister, Uncle Flip, Uncle Dony, Wave Park, ProSpecs, Surf Ocean Jukdo, DingNara, and my other sponsors for their continued support. 




My goal is to be one of the top surfers in Asia, qualify for the WSL Challenger Series, and qualify to the WSL Championship Tour and WSL Longboard World Tour. 




I am very grateful to be back in Surf City, El Salvador for the second time to compete. This will be my third ISA World Surfing Games with Team Korea.
