Sally was born in Australia in a small country town just south of Sydney. As a 10 year old Sally watched Cathy Freeman win gold at Sydney Olympics and her path and goals were set to compete at the Olympics herself one day. Sally represented her State and Australia on many occasions in a number of different sports, including athletics, winning gold at the 2007 Youth Olympics in 800m and 1500m, touch football, soccer and surfing. Sally won the WSL World Junior Surfing Championship in 2007 and ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in 2008 and then went on to win the WSL World Surfing Qualifying Series the same year to qualify for the elite World Surfing Tour putting an end to her Olympic running dreams.  Sally has built a formidable competitive surfing career holding the WSL number yellow jersey ranking many times, winning 12 WSL World Tour Championship events and finishing runner-up to the World Title 3 times(2010, 2011, 2012). Nothing better highlights her determination and courage than her 2015 Fiji Pro victory at the famed Cloudbreak Reef, beating the field despite suffering a perforated eardrum.  Sally loves representing her country and has been the ISA World Champion four times 2008, 2018, 2021 and 2024 (a record).  She is the author of two books ‘Live Like Sally’ and ‘Summer Fit - All Year Round’ and encourages all to lead active and healthy lifestyles. Sally's Olympic dream may have disappeared in 2009 when she joined the World Surfing Tour but as fate would have it Tokyo 2020 added Surfing as a new Olympic sport. Sally qualified to represent Australia and finished 5th completing the dream that started when she was 10 years old. Sally is a member of the Olympic Program Commission for the IOC which determines the sports that compete at the Olympic Games and also a Vice President of the International Surfing Association.

I was born on the Gold Coast but have lived in Fingal Head (Northern NSW) for most of my life. Fingal is away from the GC crowd with great waves which has shaped my surfing to what it is today, it's also just down the road from Duranbah and Snapper Rocks, which has given me the opportunity to get comfortable in some of the best waves in the world.

The punchy beachys found around the Tweed Coast and the Gold Coast have shaped my surfing to be explosive and unpredictable, allowing me to practice my air game everyday which is a major part of my surfing and what I love doing the most. I plan on changing the way Australian surfing is seen by adding huge airs to my competition repetoire.

I finished up 21st on the 2023/24 WSL Australia/Oceania QS rankings and also finished 1st place on the 2023 U/18 Surfing Australian Junior Rankings, which has led me to to the ISA Junior Championships where I aim to Captain the Australian team to gold.  I'm stoked to represent Australia and I am thankful for all of the support from everyone at home who has helped get me over to El Salvador!
