I was born on the island of Saipan and grew up on Guam. I learned to surf when I was 4 years old and have been surfing ever since. I love to longboard and shortboard and just being in the ocean! I'm currently a student in Santa Barbara and have enjoyed continuing to surf breaks within the area.

My dad, Fred Mendiola, is an ex-pro surfer, and has taught me pretty much everything I know. I owe it to him and my mother for my love of surfing. I also play other sports such as baseball, golf, and soccer. I have represented Guam for Baseball 4 different times. Competed in the National High School Boys Golf Invitational 2022 (Pinehurst, North Carolina). Plan to attend Point Loma Nazarene University majoring in Business accounting. Graduated high school Class of 2023. My dad owns a surf shop named Lotus Surf Shop in Tumon, Guam.

Hafa Adai, My name is Derrick Ikehara. i was born and raised on the Island of Guam. I am 39 years old. i have been surfing since i was 5 years old. i come from generations of surfers beginning with my grandfather. i started competing in local grommet competitions when i was 10. i joined my first international competition when i was 14 (Bali Grommet Competition). I have joined several international competitions growing up. Quiksilver Grommet at Duranba, Longboard Invitational in La Union Philippines. As well as competing locally on Guam. My highest achievement would have to be placing first in the mens division at the Melanesian Cup in 2013 at Cloudbreak Fiji. Surfing for me is life. I love to surf because it keeps me healthy, grounded, humble, and content in life.

Born and raised on the beautiful island of Guam! My dad taught me at the age of 4 and fell in love with surfing. Started competing internationally at 11 traveling the world pursuing competitive surfing. Then started the WQS journey at 19 in the North America region and havent stopped! Thank you to my mom and dad for all the love and support. Also big thank you to everyone who has sponsored and supported me through my surfing career.
