I'm Djibril from Dakar, Senegal. People call me Sita. I live right in front of the world-famous surf break Ngor Right, where the movie The Endless Summer was filmed in 1960s. It is my favorite surf spot, because I know the waves and I get to explore different maneuvers. I grew up watching my dad, uncles and friends surf at Ngor Right. I am always there surfing with friends when it’s there are beautiful waves. This winter I surfed often in Ouakam, where there are great barrels. I love that feeling of coming out from barrels.I am from a surf family. My uncle Mbabou competed in the ISA World Surfing Games in France and in Japan. He has a beautiful surf maneuver styles and I want to surf like Mbabou does! Surf community in Senegal calls my dad “Fanning.” He has a dynamic surf style. My parents are so supportive of my surfing interest and give me encouragement. I am coming to El Salvador with my elder brother Birame, whom I look up to and I enjoy surfing with. This ISA World Surfing Games Junior is my first international surf contest that I am competing. I hope to compete internationally more often. I have been competing in Senegal and I have been having very good results. And I continue to practice my surfing so I can do maneuvers more radically.I belong to the Surf Club Take Off Ngor ran by my coach Papa Samba Ndiaye in Dakar. I am happy to be in El Salvador with my coach who gives me good advice. With Take Off Ngor, I help younger kids from my community learn how to surf. Papa organizes free community surf lessons and I help him twice a week. Also Take Off Ngor is very strict about staying in school. I study hard to do well in school.I have been supported by Dakar-based surf equipment store, surfshop.sn. The owner, Ali has been so kind and helping me with surf equipment and I am grateful. In November 2021, Ashton who shapes for his A&H Vessels in California gave me a beautiful fish. I love how it feels when I ride A&H Vessels and I hope that I can compete with his board in El Salvador.I am very excited to be in El Salvador and surfing new breaks. I hope I learn from other surfers and I hope I will have a great result!

I’m Birame from Dakar, Senegal. I am coming to El Salvador with my younger brother Djibril, known as Sita. I have another younger brother Omar who also surfs. I hope 3 of us will compete internationally together one day.

We grew up right in front of the world-famous surf break Ngor Right, where the movie The Endless Summer was filmed in 1960s. I grew up watching my dad, uncles and friends surf at Ngor Right. We are from a surf family. Our uncle Mbabou competed in the ISA World Surfing Games in France and in Japan. I love his powerful maneuver style. Summer sunset surfing is beautiful at my home spot, Ngor Right. It’s so nice to see my community surf together at my home spot, it’s so fun.

The community I am born and was raised in is called Ngor in Dakar and it is a fishing community. My dad is an experienced spearfishing diver. Everyone lives with ocean in my community.

This ISA World Surfing Games Junior is my first international travel and international surf contest. I worked hard to get myself selected to be in the national team. I love surfing and I am so excited to discover new countries and new waves.

I belong to the Surf Club Take Off Ngor ran by my coach Papa Samba Ndiaye in Dakar. I am happy to be in El Salvador with my coach who gives me good advice. With Take Off Ngor, I help younger kids from my community learn how to surf. Papa organizes free community surf lessons and I help him twice a week. My youngest brother Mbaye is 3 year old and we started initiating him in surfing this year.

One of the two boards that I am bringing to El Salvador is hand shaped by Ashton from A&H Vessels in California. He visited us with his friends last November and gave us beautifully hand-crafted boards that I am loving. I hope to have a very good result in ISA with A&H quiver.I want to have a good result so I can start my professional surfing career.
