Last year our daughter Bonnie is born, so I like to spend time together with my family. And off course I like to do surfing! Daily life: surfing before and after work in Scheveningen, The Netherlands. The surfing break is on walking distance from our house. Holiday with the family: being our together on the beach with a fun waves. My wife and I alternate between babysitting Bonnie and surfing. Holiday without the family: travelling to remote destinations for surfing, for example West Africa, the Bay of Bengal or unexplored islands in Indonesia.

I started surfing when I was 12 years old on the coast of Holland and pretty soon, I decided that I would dedicate the rest of my life to surfing. I shaped my life in a way that I could travel as much as I could to not only enjoy surfing as much as possible, but also to get better at it and in particular longboarding. I started doing competitions in Holland and after that, I started focussing on international longboard competitions. Among other achievements, I´ve won Salinas Longboard Festival several times, the Single and Unnattached in the Phillipines and reached a 2nd place at the ISA European Longboard Championships in 2019. I always loved the classic approuch in competitions. Over the past 10 years I´ve been sharing my knowledge and experience in longboarding through my company Single Fin. I love to coach people and bring their longboarding to a next level. But I also love to give them more than just tips and tools to improve their technique. My goal is to let people go home after being with us with great inspiration, a greater sense of consiousness in how to travel and make daily choices in a sustainable way but most of all giving them an ´Ohana´ feeling. A positive surf community feeling, the same that I felt when I started surfing. Three years ago we opened a ´longboard retreat center´ right in the middle of Oyambre Natural Park (North of Spain) called ´Casa ´Ohana´. A perfect and quiet place for our community of longboarders where we host our retreats, organize private coaching sessions and offer accommodation. Since then I also live full time in the North of Spain, my second home. Our upcoming coaching week from June 2 - 8 will include Chloe Calmon as a guest coach. Douwe is a multi-talented surfer, he loves competing on longboards and shortboards. He started surfing in the Netherlands at the age of 7, followed by several years surfing and travelling Europe with his family in a camper van. In the past two years Douwe lives in the South West of Portugal where he can train every day in great conditions.
In 2023 it was his first time competing with Team Netherlands at the European and World Championships Longboarding and at a WSL competition. Last year Douwe further started an exciting co-operation with Lufi, shaper in Caparica, Portugal, who custom shapes Douwe's boards. To prepare for the ISA Worlds, in January and February, Douwe spent 3 weeks of training at El Sunzal, El Salvador and 4 weeks at Chicama, Peru together with Nienke Duinmeijer from Team Netherlands.

Since I was a little girl, I have been enchanted by the ocean. Growing up in a tiny coastal village that allowed me to pursue my passion for surfing from an early age, my fascination for the ocean and marine life has been growing to the extent that it became my goal to sustain and care for the oceanby raising more awareness about protecting the ocean. My dream is to become one of worlds best female longboarders and play a big role in nature conservation and contribute to safeguarding all species for future generations. As a Dutch Longboard Champion I'm an ambassador for a healthy and sustainable future. At the moment I protest against the biggest steel factory in Europe where I live next to, called Tata Steel. This factory emits lots of carcinogens that must stop now.
