King began surfing at just 7 years old, starting out on a shortboard before exploring skimboarding. Without a board of their own, it was through the support of fellow surfer and best friend Jayr Esquivel that they discovered longboarding—a turning point in their surfing journey. In the early years, they competed using shortboards, often making it only as far as round 2 in competitions. This changed after switching to longboarding, where a breakthrough finals appearance solidified their commitment to the discipline. Remarkably, they competed for over a decade without owning a personal board, finally receiving their first in 2019. Their story is one of grit, community, and deep love for the ocean.
