Luara Mandelli, 17, is a member of the Brazilian Junior Surfing Team since 2023 — the year Brazil claimed the team gold medal at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, where she also placed 13th in the individual category. A two-time Brazilian national champion, Luara grew up surfing at Pico de Matinhos, her home break in southern Brazil. She looks up to local surfing icons Peterson Rosa, Peterson Crisanto, Jihad Khodr, and Bruna Schmitz. Her main inspirations in the sport are world champion Stephanie Gilmore and Olympic gold medalist Filipe Toledo.
