William grew up in Cornwall, surfing a variety of surf craft over the years on the south coast's reefs and beach breaks. While you can often find William amongst the better known line-ups in Cornwall, he predominantly enjoys adventuring to find waves away from the crowds, which is what enticed him into SUP surfing originally. From bellyboards through SUP and most surf craft in between, William's surfing pedigree screams variety, which has significantly influenced his approach to SUP surfing.

Holly Bassett born and raised in West Wittering.

Home spots = west wittering beach, east wittering and joliffe road.

Brought up on the beach and around watersports thanks to my parents, Jane and Simon Bassett, owning a watersports centre called 2XS. I wingfoil, windsurf and SUP surf thanks to them! (Please give them and 2XS a shout out for me if you can).

Been training in Portugal with big wave surfer, Glyn Ovens, spending a week or so in the water in breaks such as Baleal, Peniche to prepare for the comp.

I work as a personal trainer, implementing sports science based practices to improve performance, which has helped me train for this event.

Thanks to my sponsors, in particular Nik Baker at K66UK for supplying me with great kit.

Thanks to the ISA for hosting a great event - as a surfer from the UK it is great to be in the mix with so many talented athletes from all around the world.

Hi, my name's Holly!

I'm 26 years old from Devon, UK. I started stand up paddling in 2016 and was instantly hooked on racing and SUP surfing. I now compete internationally and nationally in SUP racing.

When I'm not racing or training, I work in a hospital as a Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist which can be full on, but enjoyable.

2021 was my first international season but unfortunately I had a major back injury around a year ago so was unable to compete at the start of this year. I was really glad to qualify for the ISA Worlds after taking the first half of the year easy but now I'm healed up, feeling the fire and can't wait to race!!

I was introduced to Stand up paddle-boarding in 2007 and immediately fell in love with the simplicity of the sport, giving me even more excuses to spend time on the water - initially as a way to explore the beautiful coast we have at home in South Devon, UK and then developing into a special love for ocean down-winding and SUP surfing.

Coming from a competative windsurfing backgroud, later in 2007 I entered my very first SUP competition (a SUP beach race and surfing competition rolled into one) It was so much fun competing in the waves and from that moment on I was hooked!

Since my debut in 2007 I have remained as one of the top female SUP racers and surfers in the UK and have successfully represented my county at 6 consecutive ISA World Chamionships between 2013 (Lima, Peru) to 2018 (Hainan Island, China)

Having had a few years gap from ISA competitions I am extremely excited and honoured to represent my Country once again in both Distance and Technical disciplines in Sable d'Olonne France and having turned 50 this year, I may well be one of the more mature (experienced ;) athletes on the startline!

  • Hobbies / I'm a member of Hayle Surf Life Saving club, I enjoy reading and travel when time allows.
I'm a full time working mum of three boys (17, 14, 11yrs) and didn't start paddling until I was 41 years old - better late than never!  In that time I've won the masters category at the PPG (2018), Carolina Cup (2019) aand The Gorge Challenge (2019), EuroTour (2019).  I raced for team GB at the ISA Worlds China in 2018 coming 9th in the Distance race.  During Covid, I trained for and raced the 'Virtual Molokai' enjoying long Ocean paddles around the beautiful coastline of Cornwall with a crew of Cornish paddlers including team mate Andrew Byatt.  I raced a little in 2022 then came back to win the GBSUP series once more in 2023 and qualify for Team England.  I also enjoy paddling Prone paddling and Surf Ski and I'm competing at the European Surf Life Saving Championships in Belgium, the weekend before travelling to Sable's D'Olonne for the ISA World Champs.
