I'm 25 years old. I grew up in Durban, South Africa and started surfing aged 11. My dad and I started surfing at the same time & it's something that we still get to do together whenever I'm back home in Durban. I value the ocean and all that it's brought me, from travelling the world to meeting new friends and expanding my community. The ocean has taught me to be patient and respectful, which I try to apply to life on land.

Below is a brief summary of my life story. I was born and raised in Mannenberg by my single mother. At a young age I decided Mannenberg was not the place I saw myself living so I decided to leave, I ended up I living on the streets in Cape Town for a number of years as a child in and out of shelters, before discovering the joys of surfing. My journey from then till now has involved many adventures- the little boy from Mannenberg never dreamt of when he left there- being a Protea team representative in China, France and now El Salvador.


I am a father two kids Noah and Maia and a husband to Emma.

I am a mom of two beautiful children, Koa 5 and Isabella-Rose (Izzy) 11months old. My husband and I travelled the world competing in many international events across different surfing disciplines. SUP & longboard. My husband(Thomas King) has made 2 ISA finals, one in Peru for longboarding and one at Cloudbreak in Fiji for SUP. He is my biggest inspiration :) I won a gold medal in China at the ISA world Stand up Paddleboard champs in 2018.

My name is Cara Stubbs, I am 25 years old. I was born and raised in Muizenberg, Cape Town and started surfing there at the age of 7. Surfing has since been a huge part of my life. Being selected to surf for South Africa and compete against the worlds best has been a dream of mine for a very long time. So competing in ISA worlds is a huge honour. I recently finished my Honours degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Cape Town, and will be joining a professional practice in Costa Rica shortly after this event. Sustainable design, which enables integrated systems that can benefit both humans and nature equally, and restore a human-nature connection is what drives me as a designer. Give me peeling waves and nature and I am a happy chappy.
