Jamaica’s surf scene has been dominated by the Wilmot family for decades and specifically by Icah Wilmot since he was about 11 years old. 4 time National Junior Champ, 9 time National Open Champ and the First and only Jamaican to win the Makka Pro international Surf Championships multiple times (3 times), Icah has dominated the Jamaican surf scene for the past two decade. A regular fixture on Jamaica’s National Surf Team, Icah has attracted sponsorship from such renowned brands such as Salty Crew, Smith Optics, Crowd Control Surfboards, FinS Fin systems, SunBum Sunblock, Freestyle watches, Reef International, and previously Insight, OAM, Red Bull, BodyGlove and Quashi Surfboards. With a very quick and aggressive style, this goofy footer is one of the island’s most recognizable surfers receiving extensive exposure throughout the surf media. From the print media to the digital domain and even in critically acclaimed movies, Icah has stamped his presence as one of the region’s leading and most recognizable surfing athletes, travelling and competing throughout the world and earning himself a few stellar competitive results and fans along the way. The ISA accredited Judge, surf instructor and course presenter is also an accomplished musician and plays bass in the bands “From the Deep” and “Micah Shemaiah and the Dreadites”. To top it all off Icah is also a brilliant scholar and holds a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology with a major in Enterprise computing… oh yeah… and a certificate in Video production… which will come in handy when he is working on his next feature.
