Overview:
The Vanuatu Surfing Association (VSA) with the support of the ISA and Olympic Solidarity hosted a surfing development program in Vanuatu from March 28-April 7. The program aimed to further the development of the sport by strengthening the capacity of national athletes, coaches, and judges and improving surfing and safety knowledge within the community.
ISA Experts Lee Ryan (NZL) and Michel Bourez (TAH) delivered the training program which included an ISA Surf Level 1, Judging, and water safety courses along with key practical coaching exercises for local athletes and a surf competition at the conclusion of the program.
With the growth of the sport and increased exposure for Surfing in Vanuatu, this program was a large boost for the surf community by creating a sustainable coaching and judging pathway, increasing the water safety skills and awareness, and investing in the next generation of surfers from Vanuatu.
