Update on COVID-19 Test Results – 532 Negative Results

Yesterday, June 2nd, the Health Ministry of El Salvador conducted COVID PCR tests on 534 competitors and event officials.

This was the second mandatory PCR test for all athletes, officials and staff across the entire event.

We are pleased to confirm that 532 of these tests were negative.  The two positive tests are from those who previously tested positive and are currently in the quarantine hotel.  These two individuals will remain in quarantine until their test status changes.

The ISA considers this result to be a strong validation of the robust and effective Health and Bio-Security Plan put in place during the event in partnership with the government of El Salvador.

At the same time, this result reinforces the need to remain vigilant and to not let our guard down in the interests of finishing the contest safely.  As such, the ISA and local organizers will continue to actively apply the COVID protocols in place.

The ISA is taking this action and publishing this information because it prioritizes the health and well-being of all athletes, officials and coaches at its events. We are also providing this information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency.

No specific details regarding the teams or individuals who have tested positive will be published. The ISA will make further COVID-19 statements after additional rounds of testing are completed.
