Alex Reynolds joined the ISA in September 2014 after spending two years in Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa working for Christian Surfers Africa as the Africa Correspondent. During his time in South Africa, Alex realized the potential for surfing to positively impact people’s lives, and it is this passion that gets him excited to work with the ISA and serve its mission to develop surfing across the globe. Alex, a passionate surfer who tries to spend as much time in the water as on land, studied Marketing and Communications at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He also has extensive experience working as a surf coach, serving in adaptive surfing programs, and working with Aleph Surf – an organization that uses surfing to mentor and teach life skills to disadvantaged youth. As the Membership Assistant, he will take all his experience and knowledge to further develop the ISA’s Educational Programs and Membership initiatives.

Shandy's her-story started with competitive swimming, went to surfing, instruction with Surf Sister and Hooksum Hesquiaht First Nations Outdoor School, opening a surf school for Ohana in Brazil and Live To Surf in Canada. Shandy brings unique ideas for all surfers offering feminine approaches, dryland and lifesaving techniques for wholistic surfing, long term athleticism, leadership, inspiration and courage.

Hi I am Hans, living in Scheveningen, Holland. I have been surfing since I was 11, and started coaching in '97. I have been doing coaching and instructing courses since 2008 and lifeguard courses since 2011. I do a lot of work with Surfing Medicine International, and own a surfschool in Scheveningen. Still stoked as a little grom to go surf myself or teach others, and every time I see a student take off for the first time I relive my own first surfing experience. I conduct courses in Holland but have been working with developing countries such as Poland, Romania, Russia and Angola.

I am Suzy. I am in to surf, sup and kite. I work as an ISA Presenter since 2013. In daily life I am a P.E. teacher at and Dutch International Primary School. Being in or on the water is my happy place, my healing time and my funnest play zone. That is the passion I want to pass with others.

Hey, my name is Els and I am from the Netherlands. As for many people, surfing changed my life and it brought me to so many places where I met beautiful people, where from I have amazing memories. Why I teach/coach and give the surf instructor courses: Because I just love watching people being stoked about their surfing progress, in many different ways. It could be about joy, technique, mental health, or them becoming an instructor, whatever the goal of the surfer is, I like to contribute to their process to help them reach their goal.

I have surfed for 39 years and been involved in swimming, water polo & lifesaving all of this time. I became a surf coach in 2018 in preparation for my retirement from 30 years as a police officer. I now present ISA level 1 surf coach courses and surf coach rescue awards on behalf of the Welsh Surfing Federation. I absolutely love coaching surfing especially at the weekly kids club that we run on Sunday afternoons, spreading the stoke and love & respect for the sea is a wonderful thing and a privilege to be able to do. I recently completed my ISA level 2 qualification and also my ISA Adaptive coach course earlier this year. I believe that when I deliver my courses that I instil a sense of professionalism into my candidates to enable them to continue to deliver the high standards of coaching that the ISA require, we also have a lot of fun. My full time job since August last year is as 'Project coordinator for Bristol & South Wales' for The Wave Project which is a UK charity that provides surf therapy for young people between 8 & 18yrs that are at risk of isolation, have mental health issues or other additional needs, My life both professionally and personally revolve around surfing and I have never been happier.

I´m an ocean Lifeguard i Sweden since 1993. I enjoy the ocean al year round. I´m a head instructor in CPR and first aid on national level for grownups, children and infants. I´m also an ice lifeguard and ice- and winter swimmer. I´ve bin practicing SUP surf for some years now, but even do some Surfrescueboard.

I'm Eva de Koning, living in Scheveningen, the Netherlands. I surf since 2004, and teach since 2010. Beside being a ISA presenter I work as a sport event manager on freelance base.

I decided in 2008 to get more people (especially women) on the water with SUP and haven't looked back! I coach SUP and surf on challenging and windy Lake Ontario in Toronto, Canada and on fun beach-break waves in Canoa, Ecuador. I love that SUP is so accessible and is increasing the amount of people falling in love with the water (and waves). I have over 10 years of experience SUP surfing, teaching beginners, and coaching teachers in a variety of challenging conditions. I love my job because i get to support athletes and teachers year-round through ISA's classes, certification programs, and travel to and judge contests occasionally. So fun! Lee Ryan is a former professional longboard surfer and highly skilled surf coach, with 9 British longboard championship titles to his name. He was a member of the British Surfing squad for for ten years and has represented Great Britain in the World Surfing Games in 2004 in Equador and surfed for the English National Team at the European Championships in Portugal 2005 where he finished 5th overall. Lee competed on the WSL Longboard tour from 1994-2006. Lee is now living in New Zealand since 2006 where he is an internationally accredited WSL and ISA judge and the Development Manager for Surfing New Zealand. He is Head Judge for the Longboard tour and has judged a number of international longboard events including the WSL Longboard tour events in Spain, New York and Taiwan and the ISA Longboard Championships in Biarittz. Lee has been coaching surfing for 30 years and has delivered over 45 ISA Surf Instructor Level 1 and 2 and Judging courses to over 1500 people so he certainly knows his stuff. The third son of the wilmot family in Jamaica, I started surfing at an early age, and have represented Jamaica internationally for over 20 years. Getting accredited as an ISA level 2 judge and surf instructor i have been the head coach of our family run Jamnesia surf camp in Jamaica, coaching and instructing the national junior team for 10 years. I have 30 years of experience as a Surf Coach in which I have trained more than 5,000 basic and intermediate level students. Regarding the training and management of high-performance athletes, I was the head coach of the Venezuelan national surfing team that achieved the top 8 in the ISA Word Surfing Games Costa Rica 2009 and the winning team of the gold medal in the Bolivarian Games, La FAE Ecuador 2009. Since 2009 I have worked as a presenter and instructor of instructors for the Venezuelan Surfing Federation. Also, I am an ISA Level 1 certified judge, since 2009. Catherine is a lifelong local Tofino, B.C surfer. As a first generation Canadian surfer and Canada’s first professional female surfer. Now a surf coach and surf mom of one of Canada’s first Surfing Olympic hopefuls, Catherine represented Canada at the Pan American Games in 2019 as one of the first members of the Canadian Surf Team. Catherine has 2 children and 9 nieces and nephews she loves to surf with. Catherine is an inspiration and ambassador for young girls and female surfers, winning the Woman’s National Canadian Surf and SUP Surf titles many times and makes the podium in every long-distance paddle board race and surf contest she enters. She continues to competing in both local and international surf and SUP events. Catherine helps run the local Boardriders Surf Club on Canada’s west coast and runs the annual free and very well attended kid’s surf contest, the Bruhwiler Kids Surf Classic, with her family. Catherine often travels with the Junior Canadian Surf Team as a coach. As a Paddle Canada and ISA SUP and Surf Instructor (Levels 1&2) and Instructor Trainer for Flatwater SUP, SUP surfing, surfing and SUP touring, she coaches surfing and paddle boarding full time. She loves surfing with and coaching the local kids and is very committed to inspiring and motivating the younger surfers to keep their aspirations and passions alive. Catherine is an active volunteer and ambassador for a few environmental organizations including Surfrider Foundation and helps promote education around protection of the ocean and beaches. Tasha Mentasti I grew up in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa and started surfing in the warm Indian Ocean at 11 years old. I have been an approved ISA Course Presenter since 2011 and was the first female to officially present an accredited ISA surf course. I have be awarded the responsibility as National Coach for both SA Junior Teams (2005-2007 / 2014) as well as the South African Parasurfing Team (2015-2020) and have been involved with adaptive surfing / parasurfing since its inception in South Africa in 2011. In 1991 I started Coaching and Judging. I was amongst the first group of people to introduce surf coaching in Japan. I become an ISA presenter in 2005. I have also been apart of developing coaching and judging not only in japan but also Korean andTaiwan. I organised ISJ in Japan. ISJ is an organisation that promotes and works with ISA with educational programs, high performance training and surf seminars. I am also doing surf coaching on YouTube.

Since I am 12 years old, I am every single year on the beach as an lifeguard, learning to read the environment and sharing my experience with others. Becide learning about the environment I decided to become an surf instructor in 2021 to share my passion about it with others. Since 2017 I work on different surfcamps around France and the Netherlands to share my knowledge and passion with the kids and improve my own skills.

Hi, I’m connected to ISA through Surfing Australia and have been a professional judge under the ISA training and education pathway for over 20 years! I feel privileged to have had influence and mentorship from many great judges in Australia and thought my international work many others from around the world. I’m also an approved Course presenter for both the International Judging & Officiating Course and the Level 1 Surf Coaching Course. I’ve been surfing since early childhood and have a passion for traditional longboarding, single fins and fish surf craft. On the right day you’ll see me ride anything though! For over a decade I’ve worked closely on my surfboard design with master shaper Phil Myres from Lennox Head Australia and feel stoked to have been able to have so much input into the designs of my quiver. Coming from the wave rich east coast of Australia I’m spoilt for good waves an hours drive north I’m at snapper and less than an hour south I’m at Angourie! Been these two cornerstones of world class waves I manage to find lots of salty sessions in uncrowded conditions that I’ll let the adventurer find. Thanks to all the hard work the ISA team put into the sport that we all love we now can celebrate surfing as an Olympic sport!! Looking forward to working & surfing with you all soon✌️

Dana grew up on a farm in rural Maine. He served 6 years in the Marines, including service in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In late 2002, Dana lost his lower left leg in a car wreck. Four months after his accident, Dana learned to surf and then founded the AmpSurf: Learn to Surf program in early 2003, to share rehabilitation through the healing power of adaptive surfing and the ocean. Dana is a certified adaptive surf instructor/presenter and developed the instructor training program used by AmpSurf, the International Surfing Association (ISA), and SurfAbilityUK to teach adaptive surf coaches worldwide. Dana is a team rider and member of the USA Para Surf team and has been representing the USA Surfing in global competitions since 2019. Dana is also a four-time West Coast Champion and rider in the Western Surfing Association and is ranked 7th in the world in his division. Dana partnered AmpSurf with the ISA to hold the 2020 AmpSurf ISA World Para-Surfing Championships in La Jolla, CA, and has hosted the World Para Surfing Championships in Pismo Beach, CA in 2021 and 2022. Dana has been recognized for his work with the disabled and with veterans several times. He has been named a CCN Hero, a California Veteran of the year, and Patriot of the year, as well as the 2022 WSA Volunteer of the year. Dana is also a coach for youth sports and has 5 children.
