Oceanside, California Will Host the 2025 ISA World Para Surfing Championships

World’s best para surfers set to compete in California, November 2-7, 2025

Today, the International Surfing Association (ISA) announced that the 2025 ISA World Para Surfing Championship (WPSC) will be held in Oceanside, California. The 10th edition of the Championship will take place November 2-7, 2025.

Nearly 150 athletes representing 25 national teams competed across nine Para Surfing Sport Classes in 2024. The 2025 WPSC is expected to build on those numbers as the ISA continues its push for Paralympic inclusion, with eyes set on the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games.

While performance levels have increased each year, 2024 saw a significant leap with the bar being raised exponentially. With tense rivalries developing across multiple divisions, this year’s event promises to deliver the best WPSC yet.

Para Surfing has grown rapidly since the first ISA World Para Surfing Championship in 2015 (originally called the World Adaptive Surfing Championship). During this time, the ISA has refined the Para Surfing Classification System to align with IPC standards and encouraged its 119 member nations to host national and regional competitions.

In January 2023, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Governing Board confirmed that Para Surfing has demonstrated the competitive viability and integrity of the sport, as well as the strategic benefits to the Paralympic Games.

Oceanside previously hosted the 2015 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, which saw two-time Olympian Leonardo Fioravanti (ITA) making history for his nation by winning the U/18 boy’s gold medal.
