ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championships Forecast
Updated: Wednesday afternoon, November 29th (Local Time)

Brief Overview:

  • SSW/S swell peaks Saturday, holds fairly steady through Sunday
  • Consistency to drop on Sunday as swell period shortens and direction becomes more southerly
  • Light/variable to light offshore wind in early AM, switching onshore late AM into PM

Saturday 30th: 4-6’ faces. Stronger offshore flow in the AM, switching light onshore for PM.
Swell/Surf: Topped out SSW/S swell holds through the day mixing with short-period S/SE swells. Broken-up surf in the chest high to slightly overhead range.
Wind: Light offshore winds for the early morning trend light onshore late morning to early afternoon, then becoming very light/variable.

Sunday 1st: 4-5’+ faces. Light/variable to light offshore flow through AM, switching light onshore for PM.
Swell/Surf: SSW/S swell continues, expected to lose some overall consistency as the period backs out and swell becomes more southerly. Still some slightly overhead surf to be had but the bigger sets are mostly around chest-head high, coming through less often compared to Saturday.
Wind: Light/variable to light offshore wind for the early morning, trending light onshore late morning, potentially cleaning up by mid-afternoon.

Swell/Surf Outlook
SSW/S swell tops out on Saturday with size in the chest high to slightly overhead zone (4-6’ faces). Surf holds fairly steady into Sunday. One thing to note for Sunday is that consistency is likely to fall off due to both the period backing out, as well as the swell direction becoming more southerly which brings the Galapagos shadow into play. Still due to see chest-head high+ surf, just expect a longer wait in-between the better sets.

There are also a couple of smaller swells mixing in underneath over the next couple of days. Small short-period SE/S swell-mix tops out on Saturday before easing Sunday, at which time forerunners of a longer-period SW swell will start to creep in. None of these swells will add anything to top-end size, instead contributing to more broken-up conditions.
