We have here in Senegal four competitions a year to crown the winner of the SENEGALESE SURFING CUP. For the moment only one contest has been held and it was in February.
The winners in the different categories were:
Open: Oumar Seye, François Kirie, Pape Samba Ndiaye, Rene Laraise.
Junior: Loris Clot, Assane Mbengue, Anthony Robert, Babou Gueye.
Bodyboard: Moussa Kane, Moustapha Diop, El Hadj Baitir Ndiaye, Babacar Thioye.
Grom: Joris Greusard, Cherif Fall, Mamadou Mbengue, Charles Sporrer.
UPCOMING EVENTS
The 2nd competition will take place at Malika on June 13/14.
For the SURFING DAY (June 21) we have the TERANGA CUP which is a tag team between the different Surfing Clubs at Yoff.
On August 29/30 we have the Senegal Championship. Location is to be determined.
The 3rd competition is on October 17/18 at Virage
And the last one will be at Ngor on December 19/20.
The selection for the Senegalese National team has been made on March and the following surfers were selected.
Open: Babou Gueye, Ousmane Diop, Pape Samba Ndiaye
Junior: Assane Mbengue, Thierno Samba, Ahmed Khalil
Bodyboard: Moussa Kane, El Hadj Baitir Ndiaye, Babacar Thiaw.
Women: Paulelle Cisse.
About the International Surfing Association (ISA)
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for surfing, bodyboarding and surfriding. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980.
ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since. The ISA's four Vice Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa), Mike Gerard (USA) and Karin Sierralta (Peru).
