Brazil goes to Peru as one of the favourites
25 March 2008 - Brazil will be competing with a strong “dream team” in the second edition of the annual ISA World Masters Surfing Championship that will take place in the long, perfect and classic waves of Punta Rocas, Peru, from March 29 until April 5.
One open trial event was held last weekend in the waves of Prainha, Rio de Janeiro, to determine a final team that includes:

On the team, you can see former WCT surfer Jojó De Olivença, former National Champs Pedro Muller, Ricardo Toledo and Brigitte Mayer, and State champions or former Pro Brazilian tour top 16 like Jair de Oliveira, Renato Phebo and Newton Miranda.
Marcos Conde, long time Team Manager of the Brazilian Team, said: “Last year, because of the high travel costs and the need to get the USA visa, we went with an incomplete team. Anyway, the individuals’ results were good in the Masters and Grand Masters divisions. This year, we organized an event to pay for tickets and provided good cash prizes for the team to use for the trip. Last weekend, they showed in Prainha that they’re in shape and focused to show good representation of our country in the Masters.”
In the last edition of the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship, Brazil competed with three surfers, placing 10th in the final team ratings. Wagner Pupo won the Bronze medal in the Masters division, while Marcelo Boscoli and Carlos Santos obtained a 7th and 8th respectively in the Grand Masters.
This year, things are looking better for the “verde-amarelo” team.

Brasil se va a Perú como uno de los favoritos
25 Marzo 2008 - Brasil estará compitiendo con un fuerte “dream team” en la segunda edición del anual ISA World Masters Surfing Championship que será realizado en las largas, perfectas y clásicas olas de Punta Rocas, Perú, desde el 29 de marzo hasta el 5 de abril.
Una prueba abierta fue realizada el fin de semana pasado en las olas de Prainha, Río de Janeiro para determinar el equipo final, que incluye:

En el equipo, se puede ver al ex competidor del WCT Jojó De Olivença, a los ex campeones nacionales, Pedro Muller, Ricardo Toledo y Briggite Mayer, y a los campeones estatales y ex top 16 del Circuito Profesional Brasilero, como Jair de Oliveira, Renato Phebo y Newton Miranda.
Marcos Conde , Team Manager del Equipo Brasilero, comentó: “El año pasado fuimos con un equipo incompleto por los altos costos de los pasajes y la necesidad de conseguir visas para Estados Unidos, de todas formas, la actuación fue buena a nivel individual en la Masters y la Grand Masters. Este año organizamos un evento para pagar los pasajes, y dimos una buena premiación en efectivo para que los clasificados la utilicen en el viaje. El fin de semana pasado, ellos mostraron en Prainha que están afilados, en forma y enfocados para representar bien a nuestro país en el Masters”.
En la pasada edición del ISA World Masters Surfing Championship, Brasil comptió con tres surfistas, ubicándose décimo en los ranking finales por equipo. Wagner Pupo se llevó la Medalla de Bronce en la Masters, mientras que Marcelo Boscoli y Carlos Santos se ubicaron 7º y 8º respectivamente en la Grand Masters.
Para este año, las cosas se ven mucho mejor para el equipo “verde-amarelo”.
