Team Argentina is ready for their ISA World Masters debut

20 March 2008 - For the first time in history a full Argentinean team will compete for the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship Gold Medal.

After holding three team trials in order to select the Argentinean Masters Team, the Southern American nation decided the surfers that will participate. The light blue and white team will participate in the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship to be held in the perfect Peruvian Punta Rocas’ waves from March 29 until April 5.

The Argentineans are happy to be part of the biggest contest in the world for surfers over 35 years old. As their Team Manager, Gustavo Huici explained: “This is our first Masters appearance in an international contest, we can say that just by attending, a big goal has been accomplished.”

“It is our great honour to be part for the first time of the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship, that will take place in the cradle of the South American surfing. We really consider important the fact of going to Peru, a country that gave us friendship, that goes as far back as the visit of the Barredas brothers in the early 70s, who showed us how to do it in big waves,” said Huici.

The Team Manager also highlighted: “We feel a great responsibility, because we will be representing our entire country. Anyway I can see a great team and camaraderie and friendship.”

Commenting about the Punta Rocas waves, Huci said: “We know that Peruvian waves are different from ours, but we have surfers like Gutierrez, Di Pace, Radziunas, Milanovich and Ipucha with a great experience in big waves. Also, if we look at the ladies, Marina Boullosa has surfed great waves around the world, including Punta Rocas.

Even considering that this is the first time that Argentina will be at the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship, it is still a team to keep the in mind, since some of their big names will demonstrate their high level of surfing.

Argentina está pronta para su debut en el ISA Mundial Masters

20 Marzo 2008 - Por la primera vez en la historia un equipo completó de argentinos peleará por la medalla de oro en los ISA World Master Surfing Championship

Luego de realizar tres campeonatos para determinar el Equipo Argentino de Surfing Master, el país sureño finalmente definió la lista de nombres que defenderán a la Albiceleste en los ISA World Masters Surfing Championship que serán realizados en las perfectas olas peruanas de Punta Rocas desde el 29 de marzo hasta el 5 de abril.

Los argentinos están felices de ser parte del más grande evento para surfistas por encima de 35 años. Tal como su Team Manager, Gustavo Huici explicó: “Ésta es nuestra primera aparición en un evento internacional de Masters, podemos decir que el objetivo está cumplido con solamente estar presentes”.

Conoce al Equipo Argentino:

“Es un gran honor estar presentes por primera vez en el ISA World Masters Surfing Championship, en la cuna del surf de Sudamérica: Perú. Realmente es muy importante estar en ese país, incluso por los lazos establecidos a través de tantos años de amistad, que se remonta a los primeros momentos de la década del 70 con la visita a la Argentina de los hermanos Barreda, que dieron cátedra de surf en un campeonato internacional con olas para Argentina, muy grandes”, dijo Huici.

El Team Manager comentó “Sentimos una gran responsabilidad por estar representando a nuestro país, con un gran sentido de equipo y de compañerismo”.

Sobre las olas de Punta Rocas, Huici estableció: “Es una realidad distinta a nuestro país. Pero tenemos competidores en el equipo como Gutierrez, Di Pace, Radziunas, Milanovich, Ipucha con experiencia en olas grandes y entre las mujeres, Marina Boullosa ha corrido en muchos lugares del mundo incluyendo Punta Rocas. Correr en Punta Rocas va a ser beneficioso para todos los competidores, ya que es uno de los grandes escenarios del surf mundial que ofrece Latinoamérica”.

Incluso considerando que ésta es la primera ves que Argentina participará en los ISA World Mastaers Surfing Championship, es de todas formas un equipo al que hay que seguir, algunos nombres importantes demostrarán su gran nivel de surfing.
