2008 PROGRAM INFORMATION
About the program:
In 2008, the ISA will award USD $1200 scholarships to 20 junior surfers. The Individual Scholarship Program's main objective is to provide financial support to facilitate an experience in surfing while encouraging the importance of education. The money must be used to travel to surf contests, and/or buy new equipment and to foster the junior surfer’s education.
Who is eligible?
All junior surfers aged 18 and under, including past recipients and surfers from countries with no ISA National Governing Body (NGB).
Applicants must:
- Have a financial need for a scholarship (In other words, the scholarship will make a big difference in his/her career).
- Be enrolled in school and in good standing.
- Be an inspiration to others.
Application Requirements:
Submit application in English and own language
- Report card or academic record of last two years of grades
- Letter of Recommendation
- To be written by NGB President/CEO if applicant is from an ISA member nation
- To be written by a teacher or coach is applicant is not from an ISA member nation
- Should state why applicant is an ideal candidate for an ISA Individual Surf Scholarship
- Submit a plan of how applicant wishes to use the scholarship money with dollar amounts listed in a budget
- Write an essay (maximum 500 words), “What I would like to achieve as a surfer”
- Sign an oath stating that applicant will remain a student if chosen to receive a scholarship
- Sign an oath stating that applicant will submit a report of how the scholarship money was spent
- Submit 2 photos – 1 action photo and 1 headshot
NGB Requirements:
- Submit a letter of recommendation for each applicant from your country
- If there are multiple applications from your country please rank them 1, 2 & 3; with 1 being your #1 choice.
- Only submit applications for juniors who have a financial need for a scholarship.
- Ensure that applicants are able to receive money via wire transfer.

November 30, 2007
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS AND APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEADLINE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
